The biggest concern that quite a few individuals have when they are considering eye surgery is how difficult it will be to recover from the surgery. However, recovering from eye surgery is not all that difficult as long as you follow your doctor's orders and consider utilizing the tips listed below.

Always Keep Eye Drops On Hand

One of the most important things that you can do when attempting to recover from surgery is to always keep eyedrops on hand, both the eye drops provided by your doctor to help disinfect your eye and help it heal but also a doctor approved over-the-counter eye drop. The reason that this is important is the fact that many people do experience a severe reduction in the amount of tears that their eyes are able to produce following eye surgery which means that your eyes are more likely to become dry and irritated.

This becomes a major problem when you consider the fact that most people's first reaction to dry or irritated eyes is to rub their eyes, which is something that you should never do for the first couple of days after your surgery is completed because it can interfere with the corneal flap's healing process. The corneal flap is something that is created during the surgery process that allows the laser to actually reach your eye and make the improvements to your vision and usually takes a couple days or weeks to fully heal.

Always Protect Your Eyes While Sleeping

Another important tip that can help you recover from my surgery is to always protect your eyes while sleeping. The easiest way to do this is to either use a doctor-provided set of safety glasses or eye shields or purchase your own.

These glasses or eye shields are meant to go over your eyes while you sleep so that you don't unconsciously rub your eyes while you are sleeping or end up dragging your face across your bedding in your sleep. This will allow you to ensure that the corneal flap is not disturbed even while you are sleeping.

Contact your local eye doctor in order to discuss the various benefits that eye surgery may be able to provide you with and how it may be able to improve your existing vision. In order to make the recovery process as easy as possible for you following eye surgery, make sure to always keep eye drops on hand and to always protect your eyes while sleeping.
